Jesus Christ – The Person, The Mission, The Atonement

I believe the prophets prophesied about Jesus. (Acts 10:43) I believe the Father bore witness of Jesus. (John 5:37; 8:18) I believe the Holy Spirit bore witness of Him. (John 15:26) I believe Jesus’ works bore witness. (John 5:36; 10:25) I believe the multitudes bore witness of Him. (John 12:17) And I believe Jesus bore witness of Himself. (John 14:6; 18:6) I confess Jesus Christ is the definitive representative of God, the self-revelation of God. He is the Word that became flesh among us. (John 1) The God-man, Jesus Christ, is both fully God and fully man. He revealed God to us by becoming human through conception by the Holy Spirit, to a virgin named Mary. He is the incarnate God. I believe in the hypostatic union, that in the one person of Jesus, there are two natures: human and divine. He became man, but he never ceased being God. (John 17:11) I believe Jesus Christ fulfills the work of Prophet (Deut. 18:15; John 14:6-8; ), Priest (Ps. 110:4; Heb. 5:8-10), and King. (Dan. 17:14; Phil 2:9-11) Jesus proclaimed himself as God’s Son (John 10:36) and is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being. (Heb. 1:3) Therefore, his divine attributes include pre-existence and universal power, even over death. (John 1:1; Phil. 2:5-7; Matt. 28:18; Eph. 1:22) I believe Jesus lived a sinless life; Jesus was tempted in every way, just as we are, yet without sin. (Heb. 4:15)

I believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, who through His perfect life and sacrificial death, atoned for the sins of all who will trust in Him, alone, for salvation. God presented Jesus as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. (Rom. 3:25) I believe Jesus died on the cross, so that God the Father might give eternal life to all those that He has given him (Jesus). (John 17:2) He became the object of the wrath of God and the curse of the law. Jesus wore the curse of the ground, the thorns, on his head at his crucifixion. (Gen. 3:18) The atonement for sin grants eternal salvation for all who believe. (John 3:16) Jesus exempted us from spiritual death and provided the forgiveness of sin, once and for all. (Rom. 6:10) He rose from the dead and sat down at the right hand of God in heaven. (Heb. 1:3)
