God’s new command

Jesus once said, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” (John 13:34)

He said it twice in two sentences. The same three words, two times, in twenty words. (even less in the actual Greek) There’s something significant in that.

But wait.

In his very next breath, he says it again. This time, in a more no-room-for-guesses way:

“By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

How important love is. How important it is to Jesus.

I have much to learn.
